Why am I doing this?
My favorite thing about reading the New Yorker is the cartoons. I am obsessed with them. At my parent’s house we have an 800+ page archive of historical cartoons which are fascinating to look through, jokes that clearly hit in 1932 but make no sense without a cultural railing to grasp on to.
Creating a subscriber-only cartoon contest hopefully accomplishes a couple of things:
Build community
Provide incentive to subscribe
Make me giggle
The rules are simple. Subscribe to CH. Click the link below to submit a caption. I pick a winner and will ship you some very fly one-of-one merch.1 Your winning cartoon will also be featured in this month’s round-up.
Maybe in the future I will have everyone vote on their favorites but I have low expectations for participation. So for this contest, I am your god.
